A Family Operated Business
Stewart’s Automotive Group is a family operated business in the true sense of “family operated”. Stewart's Auto Sales Ltd. founded in 1938 by Lionel Arthur Stewart, father of Richard Stewart started operating as Stewart’s Auto Supplies and Repairs, evolving to Stewart’s Auto Sales between 1952-57. All the directors are members of the tightly knit Stewart family, working full time and all having specific responsibilities for the day to day running of the company. Richard Stewart is Chairman; Diana Stewart, his wife, is Managing Director; Duncan Stewart, son, is General Manager of Stewart Motors (BMW Importers) and Director of Stewart’s Auto Sales; Jacqueline Lechler, daughter, is General Manager of Finance and Administration and a director of Stewart’s Auto Sales Limited.
Stewart’s Auto Sales has been the Suzuki dealer in Jamaica since 1982 and has established this marque as a dominant force in the market. They made the Suzuki Swift into a household name and for several years with the Grand Vitara range have been the market leader in SUV sales and the best seller among all vehicles sold in Jamaica.
Stewart’s maintains one of the largest car inventories in Jamaica with new shipments arriving monthly from Japan, storing them in the company’s duty free bonded warehouse, allowing prompt deliveries.
The company’s inventory of spare parts is unchallenged as they maintain WE SERVICE WHAT WE SELL motto.
The dealership operates on the most up-to-date programmes and the staff is trained to put the needs of customers first and to maintain a friendly and efficient atmosphere.
The Company, and its affiliates, Stewart’s Auto Paints Limited and Stewart Motors (Importers of BMW) employ over 220 staff. Staff loyalty results in a very low turnover with most resignations due to migration.
Stewart's ...the corporate citizen
Stewart’s Auto Sales continues to play its role of a model Corporate Citizen since the 1960’s and over the years has been involved in the sports scene with the Reggae Boyz and the West Indies Cricket Team.
More recently Stewart’s has been very involved with the Jamaican Olympic team. After the Beijing Olympics in 2008, Puma bought Usain Bolt a BMW M3. Stewart Motors donated the special duty on this vehicle, along with the Government who waived a part of the duty.
